A: The issue to raise subscriptions was discussed in a Council Meeting before the three levels of £250, £350 & £400 were agreed. Anything less would not be enough to discharge the Council’s commitments. In the early days of the Council, 15% of each member churches income was suggested and implemented. The target then was eventual integration of bankings so as to operate from one common account. Because it was difficult to implement, other options have been tested and the present is the latest, which is considered to be enough to make the Council viable to discharge its obligations.
A: The answer lies more in the teaching of Jesus on humility. It can even be more of destiny or predestination. James and John (or their mother) asked Jesus similar questions. The answer was simple. Matt.23:12 reminds us ‘whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted’.Therefore, let the Holy Spirit take control.
